None of these questions are appropriate for this book. This is not a story or work of fiction! I remember Civil Defense drills from my childhood. There is still good information that can be used in natural disasters.

The info is not so good as I supposed when I got the thing in 1972. There were several of them in coach's office. Now I know why he rolled his eyes when I asked for one. That said, overall preparedness and common sense advice is always in order. It is a primer of basic useful info. It is a starting point, or something you give 8th graders to read in health class. It focuses mainly on a limited nuclear exchange, so is once again germane with two national leaders bragging about the power of their nukes.Most useful info. Water purification instructions. Emergency toilet instructions are OK, but man-- get some kitty litter. When the time comes, you'll know what to do.Caveat lector. Apply some common sense and basic knowledge. The book recommends half rations of food. Your calorie needs are going up not down if the power and air conditioning are off. Better too much than not enough. The book recommends a quart per day per person of water. OMG no. Once again, with the power off and the AC not turning, you will need at least a gallon per day per person. And a two week supply is hopelessly optimistic. Lay in enough food and water and medicine for at least one month.Of particular interest to me was building a fallout shelter. Again, let common sense guide you as well.
